Changes are always going on behind the scenes, especially when it comes to the bands' singles.

My sources for the following information are very reliable, and are not based on rumours.

2007: Good To Be Gone

January 2007 was set to see the release of the second new track on Overloaded: The Singles Collection, Good To Be Gone. Many fans expressed their delight at the choice to release the track, with many stating they preferred it to the lead single, Easy.

Although, when plans for the 'Babes and Girls Aloud were made to team up for Comic Relief in March 2007, the Good To Be Gone release was cancelled, possibly because promotional duties between Walk This Way would have interfered with the track.

2006: Spiral

William Orbit decided to release his collaboration track - Spiral - with the 'Babes in February 2006. Due to Mutya's depature though, the release was cancelled and was not re-recorded with Amelle's vocals.

2006: Gotta Be You

From the beginning of the Taller In More Ways era, Gotta Be You became a quick favourite with fans. It seemed that everyone felt it should be the third single from the album, following the releases of Push The Button and Ugly in 2005. Gotta Be You was actually one of two planned lead singles for the album, although Push The Button was obviously chosen instead. Fans were left delighted when Mutya announced the track would be the third single behind the scenes at a CD:UK appearance, which left the public assuming it would be released at some point in early 2006.

Sadly, the guessing games were back on as Mutya quit the band, leaving a gap for Amelle to jump into her shoes. It was at this point that Island announced Red Dress was to be the new single, leaving the Gotta Be You plans in shreds. Hopes of a 2006 summer release of Gotta Be You as the final Taller In More Ways single were high, but the majority of the Sugababes fanbase were left gutted when Follow Me Home was confirmed as the fourth single on April 5th via an official statement issued by management.

It has been stated that the release of Red Dress, instead of Gotta Be You, was another reason that drove Mutya to leave the group, as she dislikes the song, possibly because of it's strong pop sound - a route which she no longer wanted to take, preferring to opt for more R&B influences. It was reported that the two Xenomania produced b-sides with Mutya, Heatwave and Lustful Dancefloor, would feature on the Red Dress singles, although these tracks never surfaced, maybe because lack of re-recording time for Amelle.

2005: Obession

Before the girls had recorded Push The Button with Dallas Austin, it was decided that Obsession was to be the lead single from Taller In More Ways. After some re-thinking though, Push The Button was thought of as a much better choice.

Obsession never made it as a single throughout the album campaign, but Heidi performed it at the Overloaded: The Singles Collection tour in 2007 as part of songs she wished the Sugababes had released.

2004: Nasty Ghetto

After the releases of Hole In The Head, Too Lost In You and In The Middle from the album Three, the rumour-mill went into overdrive in Sugababes camp with various reports suggesting a number of tracks to be used as the fourth and final single from the album. In the summer of 2004, a magazine reported that Nasty Ghetto was to be the next single and the video would be filmed in a castle, leaving fans eagre to see the final product.

Just a short while after this report, Caught In A Moment was confirmed to be the final single from Three, leaving Nasty Ghetto to remain as an album track only. Sugababes revisited the track on their 2007 Overloaded: The Singles Collection tour though, in which they performed a few songs they wished had been singles, Nasty Ghetto being one of them.

2002: Around The World

Following the depature of Siobhan in 2001, it was announced that the Sugababes were to make their comeback with new member, Heidi, using a track titled Around The World. Shortly after this time, it was made official that the girls had been working with Richard X and that they were to release their new single, Freak Like Me, in April 2002.

Weirdly, Around The World never made an appearance on the Angels With Dirty Faces album, or even as a b-side on the single releases!

2000: One Foot In

In 2000, the Sugababes were originally going to launch themselves into the music scene with One Foot In. The track was set to lead their debut album, One Touch, but Overload was chosen instead. Sadly, One Foot In never surfaced as a single, leaving it to remain as an album track to this very day.

Mutya, Siobhan and Keisha performed One Foot In on T4's Pop Planet in 2001, making it the first and last TV performance of the track.
