Keisha sets the record straight on Sugababes reunion
Hello Magazine, UK

Keisha Buchanan has denied reports she is joining forces with the other original members of the Sugababes.

The 25-year-old singer, who was a founding member of the girl group from 1998 until September, took to her Twitter page to clear up any speculation.

"I'm not re-forming the sugababes. We've spoken & I'm pleased they've lent me their support and vice-versa.

"But we're 100 % NOT reforming xxx," she wrote.

Keisha's fellow original band mates are Siobhan Donaghy – replaced by Heidi Range in 2001- and Mutya Buena who left the band in 2005.

The London-born pop star, who said it was not her choice to leave the trio, was herself replaced by Eurovision contestant Jade Ewen.

Suga ‘n Price
The Sun, UK

THE original SUGABABES line-up are back in action - with the woman who made JORDAN a multi-millionaire masterminding their return.

I revealed last month how MUTYA BUENA had called on her old bandmates KEISHA BUCHANAN and SIOBHAN DONAGHY to reform.

The girls had a meeting last week and have now made the decision to take things forward.

And PR guru CLAIRE POWELL - who transformed Jordan from a glamour girl into a money-spinning brand - is on board to steer the course to glory.

Mutya was spurred into action after yet another line-up change in September when Keisha got the boot.

This just left AMELLE BERRABAH and HEIDI RANGE, who have since employed Eurovision star JADE EWEN as a replacement in the line-up merry-go-round.

This means the current Sugababes don't have any founding members in the band. Now Powell, who was tapped up by Mutya's manager, has agreed to help mount a serious challenge to the Babes with the originals - or SuJorbabes, as I'm calling them.

A label source said: "The comeback is gathering momentum.

"Mutya had a lot of convincing to do to get the girls around the table to sort things out. That happened last week and they are all game to give it a go.

"Mutya's manager knows he needs some muscle to make it a commercial success and he's called in his old pal Claire.

"The other girls are delighted to be back in touch. They are bang up for it with the new management team.

"They are now looking for a record deal and have started planning for a big launch next year."

I always thought girlie bitching was the root of all evil. But it looks like it has played a huge part in this pop pantomime.

The original line-up, who formed in 1997, split when Heidi replaced the first Babe to leave - Siobhan - in 2001 thanks to catfights.

But they have been so keen to bitch about the new line-up, it has brought them back together.

Wow.

Amelle, Heidi and Jade will be in for the ultimate chart slanging match when they face the founding members next year.

It's just as well Top Of The Pops is extinct as I bet the backstage battle would have been an eye-scratching, nipping, hair-pulling horror show.

AXED SINGER IN SUGAS DIG
The Daily Star, UK

KEISHA Buchanan has slammed the new Sugababes line-up saying they’re all in it for themselves.

The ousted popsicle, 25, says there’s no hard feelings, but she doesn’t miss having Heidi Range, 26, or Amelle Berrabah, 25 as friends.

The big-lunged lovely said: “I’m doing what’s best for me. They did what’s best for them.

“The fact is, I was in the Sugababes for 12 years. I was in that band because I loved it, not to elevate myself. But you have to move on and I’ve got Mutya (Buena) and Siobhan (Donaghy) supporting me now.”

Hinting the new line-up might struggle without her, she revealed: “I did a lot of stuff behind the scenes for the band that people don’t know about. I was always the one working hard.”

And while rumours are circulating that the original Sugababes line-up are back in the studio, Keisha tells us she’s putting in the hours on her solo career.

She said: “I didn’t have any plans to go solo. It was all really sudden so it’s taken me a while to adjust. I love just being in the studio.

"I haven't got a release date just yet, but I think it's really important that I get it just right."

But if you’re expecting any Rihanna-style raunchy butt-flashing from her, you can forget it.

Keisha said: “I love Rihanna. Her figure is fantastic. But when she turns around and walks towards the back of the stage in a tiny leotard, I could not do that. I would have to have my hand covering my arse.”

Sugababes to stop name being stolen?
STV News

Sugababes have vowed to stop their name being stolen by the original line-up if they decide to perform - and apparently have legal backing as their record company own the rights.

The revamped trio, who recently released single About A Girl, have however confirmed that Sugababes founder members Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy would still be able to perform songs from their debut album.

One Touch, which was released in 2000, is the only album to include all the original member’s vocals.

The new line-up were interviewed for radio, and Heidi Range said: "They could still perform them, but they can't use the name because it belongs to our record company who we signed to.”

Amelle Berrabah explained: "They wouldn't be allowed to use any of the songs except Overload, it would be like doing a cover."

The new Sugababes are in the process of recording more material for upcoming album Sweet 7, which was delayed and is now set for release in March.

Newest member Jade Ewen said of the possibility of the original line-up reforming: "Keisha just put on Twitter that she 100% is not reforming, but I think even if they do there is enough room for everyone, we wish them the best of luck.”

Midweek News for About A Girl
About A Girl is holding on in there in the Official UK Singles Chart, according to the latest Midweek update today. The track is currently at #11, but it is just outside of the Top 10, so if you haven't purchased it yet, make sure you do so now!

About A Girl was a strong seller last week, and the sales between the other artists in the Top 10 were very close:

06. Ke$ha 43,206
07. Britney Spears 42,425
08. Sugababes 41,683

In comparison to other #1 singles throughout 2009, had About A Girl been released on another week, it could have topped the charts too! The track has also become the 17th Sugababes' Top 10, which is a massive achievement for any UK act, so weldone to the 'Babes!

Gig Cancellation
The Sugababes were forced to cancel their performance at The Birmingham Christmas Lights Switch On Show yesterday due to the overcrowding of the venue:

Sunday Mercury, UK

The Sugababes last night issued an apology to fans after the Christmas lights switch-on event was cancelled after the crushing horror.

Heidi Range said she and the girls were “really disappointed” the gig had been pulled, but understood there was no alternative after the terror scenes.

The band had been due to perform live for the first time with their new line-up, with Eurovision contestant Jade Ewen replacing original band member Keisha Buchanan.

Other performers due on the bill were dance act Calvin Harris, hip hop star Tinchy Stryder, former Neighbours actress Natalie Imbruglia, pop duo Mini Viva, rapper Chipmunk, and girl bands Girl’s Can’t Catch and The Saturdays. Last year’s X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, indie-rockers the Noisettes, Brit award winner Taio Cruz and songbird Pixie Lott were also due to perform at what looked like Birmingham’s best ever Christmas Lights switch-on.
