The Sugababes stunned Scots fans with a shock appearance at Wednesday's Forth Awards in Edinburgh's Assembly Rooms.

Performing for the first time in front of an audience with their new look line-up, Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen performed songs including new hit About A Girl.

And they admitted they were feeling the pressure of debuting the new 'Babes live.

Heidi said: "It was really good. It was our first performance live with Jade so we were nervous, but the crowd were nice and we were relieved to get it done."

But it didn't all go to plan - they had a slight wardrobe malfunction.

Heidi said: "We are having a bit of trouble keeping our dresses from riding up."

The girls also thanked Scots fans for supporting them through troubled times.

Amelle said: "Our latest single did well which is a massive achievement given the recent events, so thank you."

The band picked up an award for Best Band and admitted they were surprised to do so.

Amelle said: "We honestly didn't expect that. It was a shock - a lovely one."

Despite the upheaval surrounding the line-up change when Keisha Buchanan departed and new member Jade joined, the girls insist they are happy with how things have turned out.

Heidi said: "We are in a good place right now. The band has been going for so many years and people change and do different things. That is what happens in jobs. People change, grow up and deal with situations.

"Most bands have a lifespan of three to five years but we are going on for 10, which is why you notice this."

And new girl Jade insists she has fitted in straight away. She said: "I feel like I have gained two new big sisters by joining the band."

The girls have recorded a special Christmas song, a cover of Santa Baby, and even finished working on it in their Edinburgh hotel room.

Heidi said: "We are not releasing it as a single, we are giving it out to radio stations. It's just for people to listen to over Christmas.

"It is a soulful version of Santa Baby and then the album is out in March.

"We always mess around with our voices. We were getting ready for this show, our sound man set up his gear and we added more vocals to it in our room in the Balmoral Hotel. So it was finished in Scotland.

The Sugababes rounded off their day by handing over an award to Spandau Ballet.

Amelle said: "We loved their music so we were excited to give them their award."
